The City of Hoover acknowledges the importance of recreation on the quality of life for its residents and visitors, and places significant emphasis on providing opportunities to meet a variety of needs. With some 30 public parks and recreational facilities located in Hoover’s city limits, there are recreational opportunities for everyone. Multiple private golf courses, neighborhood trail systems and other community assets are located in Hoover.

The Cahaba River flows throughout Hoover attracting many canoeists and kayakers. The Cahaba is recognized as being one of only eight hotspots of biodiversity on the world.
