Public Works Department

The City of Hoovers Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining city infrastructure, to include public buildings and some roadways as well as public spaces and some utility services within the city limits.   We strive to offer the highest level of customer service and professionalism in our daily duties to protect the health and safety of our residents.

Various Responsibilities;

Repairing and replacing storm drain covers, catch basin’s and the cleaning of storm gutters;

Asphalt patching and repairing of City streets;

Replacing and repairing sidewalks;

Installing and removing Holiday lights;

Oversees Contract Compliance and Residential Waste Management and brush pick up;

Painting for crosswalks/parking, handicapped ramps;

Annual residential Leaf pick up;

Annual Household Hazardous Waste Day;

Tree trimming in City right-of-ways;

Clean up after storm events;

Install and maintain street signage;

Mowing and trimming right-of-ways;

Provide signage/barricades/banners for special events;

Installing and removing flags for legal Holidays;

Tree maintenance including removal of fallen trees in the roadway;

Oversees contract compliance and Street sweeping and maintenance;

Assist other Departments;
