Overview

The mission of the Hoover Beautification Board is to inspire and empower Hoover citizens to take greater responsibility for their environment. A primary function of the Board is planning and executing programs that educate, encourage and support local citizens and businesses in the continued beautification of our city.  The Board’s 20, volunteer members are each appointed by the Mayor.

Current ongoing projects include: Annual Hoover Arbor Day Celebration, Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, Hoover Commercial Beautification Awards, and Beautify Hoover Grant. (Board encourages litter and recycling education through sponsorship of Litter Awareness events in conjunction with Hoover City Schools and ALPALS (Alabama People Against a Littered State)).

Board members also volunteer their time and talent in keeping Hoover Beautiful by judging entries in the annual Litter Poster Contest, interacting with citizens at Household Hazardous Waste Day, planning and executing the decorating of Hoover City Hall for Christmas, and participating in the annual, “Celebrate Hoover” event.
